General Notary Questions

What is a notary public?

A notary public is a state commissioned official authorized to verify identity, witness signatures, and administer oaths to help prevent fraud.

Can a notary notarize an already signed document?

No. The signer must appear before the notary at the time of notarization, either in person or through a remote online session.

What if my ID is expired?

Florida law requires valid, government issued photo identification. Expired identification cannot be accepted. Two credible witnesses may be used in limited situations in accordance with Florida law.
